Database update kills site

    I tried to update my WordPress. After the update, the site asked me to update the database. However, that database install had a bunch of errors. Not only can I not access the Dashboard until the database is updated, but my site has disappeared.

    Can I somehow go back to the old version? I promise I’ll never update again.

    Please don’t promise that, updating is very important. It’s not just about new features, it’s about security fixes too: https://wordpress.org/news/category/security/

    Are you able to quote the errors you see, or can you describe what you see now when you try to access the Dashboard?

    Sorry about the delay. Another catastrophic computer failure made me forget about my WordPress site entirely.

    When I try to access the Dashboard, it tells me Database Update Required, with a button to press for the update. When I press the button, I get a series of errors, followed by a notation that the update has been completed. Of course, when I return to the Dashboard, it still needs an update. I have no access to anything.

    Here’s the error message:
