500 Server Errors

    Received notices that there were some plugin updates on one of my sites. Updated 7 plugins. Akismet and Jetpack were two of them. After working with the dashboard, mostly in posts, for a little while, the site slowed to a crawl and started giving 500 server errors. I had to disable the plugins via FTP. I started re-enabling the updated plugins 1 by 1 and it looks like Akismet is the problem. When Akismet 3.1.8 is enabled, things work ok for a minute or two, then site speed starts to decline until server 500 errors after about 20 minutes.

    I began getting a 502 error after updating 3 plug-ins, Akismet was one of them. One of them is changing my DNS number on my Domain Name host. I am using a wp server and had my DNS set to go to it. I restored to a previous version after changing my DNS back to my wp server and tried updating one at a time. It happened again.
