If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again. If clearing your Permalinks does not alleviate the issue, this could be attributed to anything from a web server configuration to a bad WordPress install.
OK I found the problem. I was about to tell you that I have a test blog that works fine, but I noticed it’s URL: /index.php/2016/02/26/hello-world/
I included “index.php” in the permalink of my main blog and it works.
So now I have to get rid of index.php.
Do you have any idea how to remove index.php from the permalinks? When I remove it, it returns error 404.
I re-installed the test blog it it’s still there – http://eeriee.tk/index.php/2016/02/28/hello-world/

Try editing and re-saving your permalink structure at Admin panel>>>Settings>>>Permalinks
I tried it but the posts/pages won’t open without “index.php” (error 404).

I have the same issue and have been able to narrow the issue to the .htaccess file. Firstly it didn’t exist so I created it. Then I added the recommended config as per https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks.
When I change the permalink in my Permalink settings the .htaccess is modified to just # BEGIN WordPress # END WordPress and I get the website error. Any ideas why this is happening?
