Can't add value to field

When editing Manage Database Fields I’m trying to add a value to a hidden field. When I add the value and click Update Fields. The page submits and when I look at the value field in the Manage Database Fields it’s blank as if the data wasn’t stored. I’m also not able to click the Signup box and save that.
