Hi, the timestamps in both normal XML and the News Sitemap are in GMT (UTC) … what is your time zone? Does that have a 13 hour difference with GMT? What do you have configure under the time settings on Settings > General?

Thanks for the reply – my time zone is EST, and my site and server are also set for EST.
These are the settings

UT is about 5 hours ahead of ET
That does indeed not seem like the correct conversion… Not sure what could be happening here but in the development version there are some differences that might have effect here. Would you try installing the dev version https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/xml-sitemap-feed.zip and see if that shows a different timestamp?
Oh, hang on… it is correct. Your post https://www.newcannabisventures.com/health-canada-grants-two-cannabis-cultivation-licenses/ was published on February 19, 2016 at 3:42 pm EST and is stamped at 2016-02-19 20:42:39 UT in the News Sitemap. So 3:42 pm should correspond with GMT-5 which is in this case is 20:42 – 5:00 = 15:42 == 3:42 pm…
