Translation file paths?
-
I’m trying to figure out the most straightforward way to translate the Minamaze theme and I’m at loss with how to get the translations working. I located the two default folders WordPress assumes translation files live in (
wp-content/languages/themesandwp-content/themes/miniamaze/languages), but adding .po and .mo files to either makes no noticeable difference. And older post on the forum suggests using the Codestyling Localization plugin, but it’s no longer available. I tried substituting it with Loco Translate and managed to create the files themselves no problem, then tried placing them in one or both of the language folders without seeing any changes on the site. The localization file I downloaded with the WordPress installation itself works just fine, so it’s purely a theming problem. The .po (and .mo) file, when created in the
wp-content/themes/miniamaze/languagesfolder is simply called[lang_code].po, which might or might not have some effect on Miniamaze finding it. I might be clutching at straws here, but I really have no idea why the translations aren’t being applied. For clarity, I’m running Minamaze 1.3.4 on the latest WordPress release (4.4.2), and the language I’m trying to apply is Finnish.
