    Hiya!

First off, thanks for making such an awesome theme available for free. It looks fantastic, runs great. The code is gorgeous.

Now, I’m running into a bit of a problem.

    I’m working on http://www.vitaplayer.co.uk

I want to use a full-width header. What I did to get it working was modify the functions.php file and change the header image to what a I wanted.

    Done, right? Wrong.

Every time the theme updates, it’ll delete my change. It doesn’t seem like that big of an issue, but I’m trying to convince our Editor in Chief to use it on all of our sites (3 in total), and doing this over and over for every update can get tiresome.

Now, I know there are plugins out there that will let me inject some code (CSS, JS, so on).

Is there a way to use one of this plugins (Like Simple Custom CSS) to add this function (a full-size header image), so that I don’t lose my configuration with every theme update?

Thanks a lot! And thank you again for the theme! It is AWESOME (and so easy to work on!)

    -Marcos.

  • Hi Marcos,

thanks for using MH Magazine lite and we’re very happy that you like the theme. We’re always thankful for reviews from happy users if you don’t mind to leave a few words. 😉

In general there is no need to modify code if you only want to upload a full-width header image. You can simply do this in your WordPress dashboard under “Appearance => Header” and then select the full image. The 300 x 100px image size for the header image is only a recommendation, not a requirement.

And if you also want to get rid of the padding around the logo, you could achieve this with some CSS:

    .mh-site-logo { padding: 0; }

To add CSS code to your site, you could use a plugin (e.g. Simple Custom CSS). The CSS code that is added through the plugin won’t get lost after theme updates.

As an alternative, the premium version of MH Magazine has an option to add minor CSS customizations without getting affected by theme updates, among many other additional features, options and custom widgets to customize your website.

    Hey guys!!

Thanks so much for the prompt response! I’ll of course leave a (well deserved) glowing review!

So, in short, I can leave the theme as it is now, and let it update on its own (and override my changes), correct?

I’ve added the CSS and it looks awesome!

Thank you so much! I’ll of course look into the premium version of MH Magazine for future applications!

    Hi Guys,

I have a similar issue. I want to change my header image height from the current default 300 Px I guess to around 200 Px. I have downloaded the “Simple custom CSS” plugin. What code should I put. I am weak in programming and limited knowledge of site building. Appreciate if you can give me the exact CSS code line to be put in Custom CSS plugin.

Note: I am using MH Magazine lite theme and my site is “childrehab.in”.

Lastly I similarly like to appreciate your beautiful theme and very easy to customize for novice site developers like me.

@marcosidillicah: You’re very welcome and thanks a lot for the awesome review. It’s always nice to see when the time and work we put into this theme is appreciated by users. 😉

So, in short, I can leave the theme as it is now, and let it update on its own (and override my changes), correct?

Correct, if you haven’t modified any code within the original theme files and just uploaded the header image and added some CSS through the mentioned plugin, there won’t be any trouble with theme updates as these changes usually won’t get overridden by updates.

@kedarwagh: As mentioned previously in this thread. There is no need to edit CSS code if you simply want to upload a larger header image. Just navigate to “Appearance => Header” in your WordPress dashboard and upload a header image as you like.
