• Hi,

is there a possibility to have different submenus on different sites? Or a individual sidebar for each site?

For example I have a categorie houses and want a submenu on the sidebar with sub-categories (for rent, for sale, and so on).
And another sub-site includes the categorie cars with a submenu on the sidebar with sub-categories BMW, Toyota,….

    I hope you understand what I mean…

Is there a function in WordPress or do I have to add a Plugin? Do all templates support these function?

    Thank youu!

  • Can I get some clarification. Is this a multisite installation running one theme for two sites, two separate, unconnected sites or a single site with one section for one set of content and one section for another?

Its one site. No Multisite. It’s with two sections

I can’t show you the site, cause it’s on a test-server for my company.

    It’s like this:
site 1 http://kondius.com/index.php/baumanagement menu for construction management and
site 2: http://kondius.com/index.php/projekte for projects but two different menus.

Okay, I might have a solution for you.

First, you’ll need to download this plugin: Dynamic Widgets and activate.

Next, create all of the categories you want for both sections

Then, create new menus in Appearance > Menus for each page that you want a separate sub-menu in with the categories you just created. Just don’t set those menus as “Primary” or “Default” in any way.

Finally, on each page “Houses” and “Cars” (I believe) add a Menu Widget with the Dynamic Widgets plugin and designate that section’s sub-menu as the menu of choice.

I hope that doesn’t sound too complicated or confusing. Let me know if this solution works for you or not.

But it will only work with articles, right? Not Sites, cause I can’t link sites to categories

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “articles”. Are you speaking of posts?

You can make menus for anything you want, pages, posts, categories, tags, custom links. It doesn’t matter. If it’s a page, post, category or tag you should be able to just drag and drop it in Appearance > Menus (Deutsch: Design > Menüs). If it’s an external link then you can use the Custom Links (Links) and put the URL in directly.

If I’m still not clear then I don’t know what else I can do without actually looking at the site’s Dashboard.

oh yes, i meant posts, sorry 🙂

it works for now. If I have any troubles I will write it down here. Thank you so much!
