Canard theme search bar in header

I am using the Canard theme – I would like to remove the search bar in the header but can find nothing on how to do this. Can anyone help?

I am also wondering if there is a way to change the word colors on the sidebar (leaving the parent pages one color – and all the pages under the parent another color to distinguish them) – hope that makes sense?

I am totally new to this and a computer idiot to boot – so please no big words… thanks! 🙂
