• I am a very new user to WordPress so I hope I can properly articulate my question:

We are using WordPress (bbPress) to power the forum on our British car website. We are getting WordPress notifications through email. We would like to have the capability for the Administrator to send out non-WordPress notifications to members of the forum. An example:

“New information relating to the upcoming car show have been posted on the Events section of the website.”

Does WordPress have this capability or is there a plugin we can add?

    Thanks,

    Gary

  • WordPress does not have an inherent function of this sort. What you are describing is something like a small-scale newsletter. Well, it is a newsletter! There plenty of newsletter plugins out there you may use directly from within your WordPress installation, provided your subscribers are not too many and that you do not send these notifications very often. Too many subscribers or sending newsletters from one’s server risks the chance of being marked as a spammer.

Such plugins are https://wordpress.org/plugins/newsletter/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/alo-easymail/. These are just some examples.

In response to a similar question, bbpress moderator Stephen Edgar recommends

You should look to a WordPress plugin for this, not specificly bbPress.

You should look at using a 3rd party email provider for this to ensure your emails sent to 22k user is not flagged as spam as there will be a high change it will if you do yourself unless you do it over the space of a few days in batches.

E.g. Start from here and find one that can do what you are looking for:
