• Hi! I combined my shipping classes by weight, so that I get two radio buttons; one is “flat rate” and the other is international. Seems I’m dangling a carrot for flat rate shipping that doesn’t really exist for international clients.

When my international customers check out they automatically choose the “flat rate” which is for US customers only.

How do I set the shipping settings so that it doesn’t confuse my customer with an offering of flat rate? Do I make flat rate the parent and then add on the international? Does anyone know how? Thanks so much!

Ok, I’m here today so I can reply. Patience 🙂

First, change the availability setting in both flat rate and international.

Set Flat Rate to be available in US only.
Set International to be available everywhere but the US.

Then, go to WooCommerce > Settings and set the ‘default customer address’ to be geolocated. That should mean US people see Flat Rate first, and international the other rate.

You can and probably should rename your methods so its clear what shipping method is for whom. e.g. naming them Shipping (US), and Shipping (international).
