• I signed up for a Network Solutions wordpress hosting package on Wednesday and have not been able to login to wordpress as yet. I am in a circle of pain right now thanks to Network Solutions.

I have tried calling NetSol direct and opening tickets. They keep saying that I should speak to WordPress. Basically with the NetSol package I have no way to access or edit my wordpress database and fix the password error. Each time I try and login to WP it says the password is incorrect with the user name. I do the ‘forgotten password’ link and I’ve tried both the User Name and my registered email but I get no emails for either to reset the password.

I asked NetSol to purge the database and reinstall WP so I could start over but they won’t stating that I need to speak to WordPress and it has nothing to do with them. I went on WordPress.com to try and reset the wordpress account but I don’t have any of the activation codes needed because as part of the NetSol purchasing workflow I never got any activation codes or links direct from wordpress.

I am completely stumped. Can anyone offer advice? Thank you very much.

You’re posting in the wordpress.ORG forum and need to ask in the wordpress.COM forum: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/support

This link explains the differences: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi Tara, thanks for your help but I tried to see whether the Network Solutions package came with .org or .com wordpress… I went to .com and tried to logon and see whether or not my account had been registered and there was no track of it. That’s why I put up this message on the .org site. Can you confirm which one Network Solutions would have included in their hosting package? It’s so frustrating as I have no access in any case.

    Hi MrMuffin,

I browsed through the NetSol WordPress hosting details, and unfortunately I see no way of helping you. For instance, there is no FTP available, thus you cannot edit wp-config.php or your theme’s functions.php to reset the WordPress password to something default.

All you can do is trying to reset your WordPress website’s password, contacting Network Solutions, or transfer your website away…

Thanks so much Tara and Jan Reilink.

Unfortunately NetSol is very unwilling to help and keeps referring us to WordPress and says it’s their fault. I asked NetSol to purge the WordPress database and start us off fresh but they won’t do that either. Like I said before, we’re stuck in a circle of pain. We’re just going to have to cancel the service I suppose and get hosting elsewhere.

How easy is it to get a URL transferred away from Network Solutions? We bought the URL in December with them. Can you recommend a hosting provider that is easy to work with for a simple wordpress site?

NetSol is well known to be an abysmal host. See Recommended WordPress Web Hosting

And Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex. If you don’t have database access at NetSol and don’t want to start over with an install and save your content, use Adminer « WordPress Plugins to export your database.
