Am I heading in the right direction?
Not really…
Including the whole blog (which would be a complete xhtml page with its own head, body etc.) into another complete xhtml file – wouldn’t make sense: you would end up with two head, body etc.
You will need to elaborate on this:
just use the wordpress blog functionality and insert this into my clients site
It is not clear WHAT exactly are you expecting…
I have my clients site already done (coded in Dreamweaver with xhtml/css). He now wants a blog on his site. I already checked with the hosting company and they support PHP 4.3+ as well as MySQL databases. I thought i could download the wordpress.zip and that would contain all the files to set up the blog within his current site. In other words I will create a button on his site (“blog”) when the user clicks that “blog” button it would display the blog on this same site (contained within the wrapper of the site). This blog would be hosted on my clients server and i thought i could use an “include” statement to pull the blog into the design wrapper I’ve already created so it doesn’t appear to be another site. I hope this is clear. Let me know.
And I told you above: you can NOT use the traditional PHP include.
You set up/install WP in a subfolder “blog” and we go from there. There is no other way.
And you will design a WP theme based on your site design. That’s the way everybody does it. No “wrappers”.
Ok….i think i got it now. So on the pages of the site there will be a link to “blog” and when the user clicks that they go to -http://www.abcdefg.com/blog/etc-…….wherever my blog files are located. So I take it I’ll then have to alter the css and layout of my blog pages to reflect my header/footer/nav/graphics etc.? Sorry for all these “stupid” questions.
You do not alter anything in the WP files.
You create your own theme.

Really c’mon Really, was my statement on the lack of respect by this mod so inflamatory that it was deleted. I would urge whoever deleted it to feel free to contact me @ ejkeat_shutdown@gmail.com and explain to me why they feel like the behavior of this mod is justified.
