    Hi Guys,

I know that there are many variations of this question in the forum but I haven’t found an answer yet…

I have just created a Network for my existing WordPress Woocommerce site (gorillageartech.com). The Multisite works, and I created a new site for my US customers using a subdirectory (sitename.com/us). Note that I used the instructions on <a href=”
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-force-multisite-to-use-subdirectories-on-a-old-wordpress-site?replies=3″>this page: to force use of subdirectories.

I then used “MultiSite Clone Duplicator” to copy all the content from my main site to the new US site. The basic site now works – i.e. the WordPress/Woocommerce structure is all there, the theme and settings etc are all fine, the Menu links go to the right places BUT, none of the pages/posts are showing up on the front end. I get a 404 error for all non-wordpress/woocommerce pages.

What’s strange is, the content seems to be on my site – the media is all there, the pages/products exist in the dashboard but I can’t access them. In my Dashboard, the product/pages menus are empty – Under “Published”, “Trash” etc, it shows the correct number of products/pages that I have, but I am unable to see any of the products/pages.

I feel like this should be a Permalinks issue but I have played around with Permalinks as much as I can and so far no luck!

Is there something I maybe missed in the “MultiSite Clone Duplicator” settings to adjust Permalinks, or do I need to look at .htaccess?

    Thanks in advance

    Check .htaccess rules.

Backup your existing .htaccess file, then go to domain.com/wp-admin/network/setup.php, and copy & paste just the .htaccess rules given there to see if that works. That should give you a start on figuring out which rules are causing this issue.

    Hi Bet,

Thanks for your quick reply. I played around with my sites last night and finally figured out it was a more basic issue – when I used the MultiSite Clone Duplicator plugin, I assumed I could clone my original site. This however does not replicate the tables properly, which led to the missing data.

I used NS Cloner Free Version to copy the original site (although I think the Cloner plugin will work too) and it works fine now.

One or two plugins didn’t like this approach, so if I was doing it again (i.e. starting from scratch with a blank website/network) I would create a base site on which to configure my theme, plugins etc, duplicate that site, THEN add the content (pages, pics, media) and use that site to duplicate to new sites using MultiSite Clone Duplicator.

Anyway, just my thoughts and not sure if this is good practice or not!

    Thanks again Bet
