OK – Some follow on to my original post…

The link: http://localhost:8888/1452699906127 originally presented upon clone completion does display a blank page, but after looking a bit more the link: http://localhost:8888/1452699906127/wp-admin displays a login page.

I logged in with my site’s credentials. I noticed that the top of the screen doesn’t indicate that it is a Clone site. I see my site’s normal name. Unfortunately, NONE of my original site’s plugins were cloned. The cloned site doesn’t display ANY content.

Hopefully, I did something wrong and I can work around this issue for now.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Additional follow on…

I deleted the original clone and tried again. I see what I did wrong. When setting up the Clone, the Files section… It lists Folders and says ‘Exclude Folders’. I removed the check in the WP-Content section thinking that I did want to include this section (and I did want to exclude the other two folders, WP-Admin and WP-Includes. I read it as selecting the checkbox would Exclude the folder from the Clone. I saw that my clone was missing the WP_Content section and I knew that couldn’t be right. Leaving all three of my WP folders selected was the correct way to leave them and have that content cloned.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback. I am glad that it is working for you.

As you already noticed, the folders wp-admin, wp-content are necessary for running wordpress successfully. Excluding these folders is like trying to drive a car without an engine;)

Yes, agreed. My original thought, when I read the ‘files’ section, was that I did need to include the WP-Content folder because I have specific support in my website that is written into the theme’s .php file. I wasn’t sure if I needed the other two ‘WP’ folders.

I was confused by the wording ‘Exclude Folders’ and that fact that the selected (checked) items are the items that get copied (included) in the clone.

    What am I missing?

None-the-less, I have a Dev version of my site and i am hoping that you are able to release the feature that will ‘push to production’ as this would be a huge benefit to my users.

    Thanks!
