couple of suggestions:
– server timing issue: discuss with your hosting provider.
– also, for any cron issue, check out this plugin and see if it will work for you: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-missed-schedule/
Hello sbrinegar,
If your posts are publishing a few hours later than what you expect then check your server time. Also under general settings is the timezone set correctly as well? Those are the first things I would check.
@tara – I talked to my hosting provider, they didn’t think the problem was on their end.
I’ve been using the Missed Schedule plugin and it helped, but published sporadically (posts would publish anywhere from 10 minutes late – 5 hours late).
@graphicscove – The time is set to New York.. which is correct. They aren’t publishing consistently 2 hours late, more like whenever the Missed Schedule plugin notices that they haven’t published

Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Sixteen theme with ALL plugins deactivated?
Do you know how I can do that without messing up my page? Confused
There’s no way to do it ‘without messing up your page’. If it seriously needs fixing this is the only way to be sure that it isn’t anything you’ve installed.
Hello, I had this problem when I tried to schedule a post.
But now I figured it out.
There is nothing wrong with cron job or wordpress update or something.
When I tried to create new post. I forgot to select post category. Then I missed my schedule. After I found that problem, I created post with selecting category. Then all good.
I think problem is solved. Please try to select category when you are creating post.
Please reply.
Thank you.
hey @tara did this worked for you?
Tell me.
This didn’t work for me π I’m still having issues with my posts not publishing on time and they all have categories listed. The Missed Schedule plugin is working for me, but I still don’t understand why they don’t publish on time
I’m having the same problem, I have a post that I schedule to be published in the middle of the night, and the last two have “missed” the time. Everything is set up fine and it was working fine until last week.
We also are having the same problem, and more. We use Missed Schedule plugin and everything was fine until 2 /3 weeks ago, when posts stop publishing in the social networks, like FB or twitter …
Same issue here, only been happening since upgrading to v4.6.1. Around a third of posts scheduled are missed now.
My posts aren’t posting either. I wonder if this is a known problem that WordPress is addressing?
I have this same problem. It started just a few days ago with the latest versions of WordPress and Jetpack. However, I believe that it is the WordPress side of things. In one day, i had about 20 posts that had a missed schedule and I had to update each one of them to get posted.
I am on a dedicated server and have wondered if I have too much overhead in the way of plugins running which causes the posts to miss the scheduled time.
