Timeout problem. Problems when disabling API?

    Hello there.

    Now, that we have several topics around here about the recent timout problem showing up in the sucuri plugin, I’ve read about disabling the API until the update is solving the problem.

    I would like to know, if there’s any security issue when I’m disabling the API connection? Does it still scan my website when I’m using the core integrity checker?

    What exactly does this plugin with the API connection?

    Yes, disabling the API communication will force the plugin to stop sending HTTP requests to the API service, these requests contain the data that is shown in the audit logs panel which is basically the event monitor. The core integrity checks are not affected by this setting, that tool will continue scanning your project for inconsistencies with the standard WordPress installation, the only thing that will stop working is the audit logs but you can enable the “Log Exporter” from the settings page and it will start working again without the API communication.
