• My comic has been on hiatus for a bit and I’m just getting around to resume working on it. During the hiatus I continued to update my plugins and themes. Recently a reader called my attention to the fact that my navigation menus were gone. I was using the navigation widget under the comic. When I logged into my admin and checked, I discovered that I don’t have any sidebars in the widgets section. Not sure what happened but something must have broken during an upgrade. I’m running WP 4.4.1 and Comic Easel 1.9.9. I can’t add or change things in my sidebars now. Any suggestions?

  • No sidebars in the widgets section? That is indeed weird. Sounds as if you caught a bit of faulty code. Sometimes al it takes is a forgotten ‘?>’ somewhere that closes off a php loop where there shouldn’t be a closing off of loops,

Since you spent some time updating your plugins and stuff, I’d suggest you start by switching your plugins off and on one by one to find out if the problem is with one of them.

Also, check if your theme works with the current WP. I’m sure your CE works with 4.4.1. because mine is even older.

If none of these steps help, you may have to trace back the changes you made since it last worked. If you

Also, you might want to check if “Enable comic sidebar locations?” in your comics/config menu is active. Sometimes it’s the simple things…

Thanks for the suggestions. It turns out it was a plugin that caused the problem. I deactivated my plugins and the sidebars reappeared. Then one by one I reactivated only the plugins that I really need. Everything is working fine now, although I’m not sure which plugin caused the issue.

^ Which plugin was causing the issue so I can note it?
