SMTP settings can be just about anywhere. My first guess would be to check your plugins. This to me would be the most common place to adjust these settings.
If you have not plugins for SMTP, then I would start to look at your theme functions.php file.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I cant see anything email related in the plugins and I did a search and found the following file:
/var/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/functions.php
Is this what you mean? There was no “twentysixteen” folder.
Thank you for your patience, im a complete newbie here with this. I did a search for email and SMTP and cant see anything in this file but maybe im just looking for the wrong thing.
That is indeed a theme functions file but any change made to the file that you have mentioned will be overwritten after an update.
Note your current theme name and then that is the theme directory you need to look for.
Hi,
To help you in this matter can you please provide us list of themes and plugins you have installed on your website.

Hi Justin, What is tag in posts?
Thanks Justin,
I am using the Suffusion theme. I have found the correct theme directory.
Is it worth me copying the contents of the functions.php file in here? will that help?
My active plugins:
Active Directory Integration
BM Custom Login
Connections
Contact Form 7
NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati
Smart Youtube PRO
Staff Directory
Sorry for not clarifying. Please refer to forum rules. By “tagging” I am referring to to leaving a website link back as if ever post was an email.
This wides a fine line of spam.

Please do not post your functions.php content here. Please use pastebin.
See this link for the file.
