Also try:
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
– If that does not help, try uploading a fresh copy of the entire theme (you might want to make a backup copy of your current theme first.

I did this. No help. It looks like its a problem in WordPress 4.4.

– try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.
–Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.

Today I installed 4.4.1 and still the same problem as well 🙁
Same problem here. I get email notifications of posted comments, however, there are no comments visible on dashboard, comments section or on the page itself. There was a Akismet update recently, as well as a WordPress update…It’s not good at all if you are not able to respond to questions or comments left by your users….
I have this problem with post with more than 20 comments.

If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. That way you stand a good chance of getting full attention to your specific issue. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
