Very new to this…

The problem is i don’t know what version of wordpress I’m using, i’d like to get the latest one. All i know is i don’t see a plug in tab and i kinda want to get a few of these cool plug ins. I want to get the latest version of WP without loosing all my post. Can anyone help? thanks!
