Clean install but cannot access the Plugins folder

I had problems with my site and made back-ups. Deleted all content (WP 4.3.1) deleted the DB and then re-installed 4.4 with new login details. The site loads ok but the when clicking on “Plugins/Installed Plugins” get an error message (wp-admin/plugins.php) Oops! That page can’t be found.

If I click on “Settings/General” and make a change, there is no save button at the bottom.

This a completely new install, what could be the problem?

It sounds like a WP setup problem, i would re install WP again

I deleted everything from my cPanel and deleted the database. Then re-installed with a new login, password and database name.

Same problem, clicking on Plugins shows a 404 page. Clicking on “Settings/General page loads but no save button at the bottom.

I’m using Firefox 43.0.2 and Explorer 11, both have the same problem

are you installing WP manually or with an automatic installer? try the latter.

Hi,

Check permissions on the plugin folder, are they correct?

To me it sounds like your having an issue with permissions on directories and files.

Could this be a corrupted php from the hosting company?

if I click on the Plugins Folder up comes a 404 error page, If I click on Settings/General there is no save button at the bottom.

I cannot tell but i suggest you try the manual way, its really easy.

Hi,

Using FTP or your control panel file manager what are your permissions on the folder plugin? Or any folder?

This so sounds like a permission issue. Something is not letting the eight stuff execute with correct allowance. Just like if your template file isn’t writable, you won’t see a save button on your template editor in WP Admin.

I have no problem with other sites running 4.3.1 or 4.4 with the same hosting company.

All folders are 644

Folders should be 755 if I’m correct, files should be 644.

Ok, I change and see if that solves the problem, Back tomorrow.

Thanks for your help and support. I have contacted the hosting company and asked them to check their end.
