Hi mrppp, thank you for using Yasr!
Please note that yasr_overall_Rating has a different scope from yasr_visitor_votes : on overall rating only the author of the post can vote 🙂

So can it not be set to allow visitors to vote but not have the text shown by the stars i.e just the stars not [Total: 0 Average: 0/5]

You have different solutions:
In the settings you can customize the text as you wish, or if you want to hide just add this on the “Aspect & Styles” tab
.yasr-total-average-container {
display: none;
}

thanks for this but if i remove [Total: %total_count% Average: %average%] It still shows
Although i think this will do me [Total: %total_count% ]
So all good cheers
Thinking about it, no point hiding it as it makes more sense being shown
