It returns an 500 internal server error. You should check the server logs for more info.

It’s also possible something is actively blocking access to the admin-ajax.php. Do you have an security plugins active? If so, can you try and disable them for a moment?

You can also try to enable WP_DEBUG, and WP_DEBUG_LOG and see if something shows up in the debug.log.
