New Spam in Comments

    I have Akismet and it works great. I also have my comments set to moderate and also requires anything with 2+ links to go into moderation.

    In the last couple of days I am getting hit with comments getting into moderation but not going into Akismet at all.

    The thing about the links, in blue with underline, is not have the http:// in front of them. The links tend to be for porno and the comments are huge in length. (no pun intended)

    Any resolution?

    If Akismet is unable to contact the Akismet servers, for whatever reason, it’ll shove comments off to moderation instead. This happens every once in a while. Network gets funky for a bit, etc.

    On the moderation screen, there should be a link in the top right to recheck the queue for spam. Click it and it’ll pass it back through Akismet again. See if that dumps your moderated message spam into Akismet automatically.

    Those spam comments are usually posted with multi-thread software like XRumer. It’s an instant electric charge that travels over different networks and then finally reaches your server. A simple solution is to give the spammer a break for several seconds after hitting RETURN. There are a few WP plug-ins like that. They should work wonder.
