• My blog, theocddiaries.com, is a WordPress.org blog using the Thesis theme and it is housed on a DreamHost server. For the last 24 hours, even though the blog itself is up and available to readers, I cannot access the admin page. I get a message saying there were too many attempted redirects. This is a new one for me. Also, when I have been able to at least get the log in page up, it won’t accept what I know to be the right password. But when trying to do a password reset, the reset email is not reaching my account. Please help.

  • Do you have any security plugins installed? May want to remove them from the plugins directory (just move them down a level) and then see if you can access admin.

Im also having issues. The admin page is blank after I log in.

@Jyn: It’s impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own and it causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers. Please post your own new topic.

I also cannot start my own thread about it because it seems this forum is having issues, also. Ive tried starting a new topic twice and it also loads a messed up page.

Can anyone even get to this link? It’s the third time Ive tried posting and the page loads as blank too! Im so frusterated!

Thanks for the response, folks. Here’s what I think is happening:
–My site went down Monday and I think whatever DreamHost did to get it back up led to the wp-admin glitch. I’m working with them on that.
–When I am able to reach the log-in page, it rejects my password, even though it is absolutely the correct one.
–When I try resetting it, the reset email they tell me was sent to my address never shows up.
–Any changes that involve plugins is a non-starter since I can’t get into the admin page.

Keep working with them, but you can also reset your password by FTP or PHPMyAdmin: Resetting Your Password « WordPress Codex

Thanks. If I were to go the FTP route, where would I start? The directions in that link makes the assumption that the reader automatically knows what he/she is doing.

Here’s how to access phpMyAdmin on Dreamhost (with finding your user credentials):

    1. Login to Dreamhost
    2. Go to Goodies > MySQL Databases
    3. Scroll down to the Database(s) on this server section
    4. Click the link of your website within Users with Access
    5. Scroll down to find your username and show your password
    6. Go back to the MySQL Databases page and click on the link under Web Administration that says phpMyAdmin and you’ll be brought to the login page

Then follow the Resetting Your Password link provided by songdogtech.
