htaccess OVERLOADS the server loads

    Guys
    i use WP network in VPS and the htaccess File raises the server load to 60 .. the normal value is 1 or 2 at max .. so .. above 10 the site stop working ..

    I believe That the Issue in permalink ..
    my current configuration is
    xxx.com/archives/123
    But i cant Change it as i have more than 1000 Posts Published in my site and archived in google from more than 4 years ago and i dont want to Re-archive it in google from the beginning

    @smsm3650,

    To me, it seems you overuse zip compression (which can become quite cpu intensive – sometimes GZIP cost most performance that it gains).

    On the other hand, I advise you to use more browser caching, something like that on httpd.conf or this .htaccess file. Nginx also work in a similar way.

    Making the following code work according to directory, should improve your VPS performance quite well.

    Also I wanna inform you that it’s True this code may increase my VPS performance .. But unfortunately the main issue still remaining .. Because when i use this from of link

    Uses at each load a lot of unncessary files to reload from server (like common js, logo jpg, stuff like that. That’s why I advised you this possible solution used by many large traffic websites.

    My advice, try to make this work on wordpress root folder .htaccess, make adjustements for a week days and check your overall bandwith graph to see if it works – depending how many loyal visitors you have, it should at least reduce bandwith and server resources by 20/30%.

    Last final advice, it will force you to empty file cache browser every time you replace a file with same name, that is (gif|jpg|png|js|css), so be warned. It really FORCES browser to use cache for X days (time in microtime) format like “2592000”. There are tutorials to help you adjust that, just Google.
