WordPress or Movable Type?
-
I’m considering starting a news/blogging website that I want to have room for expansion.
One of my biggest things I want is forum integration with IPB where my posts automatically generate a thread on the forums (without using IPB’s portals, I don’t like them). I also would like members who sign up being able to login to both the forums and the main page at the same time, and that they share the same account. Is this possible? I may forego this feature since it seems perhaps very difficult to do but I would like to hear your thoughts on it.
And is WordPress relatively easy for a somewhat technical person who isn’t very familiar with coding and the platform to get set up? I would have customizations done by a pro.
Finally, is it a very…open and dynamic platform where I can add features such as user blogs, etc.? This is a long ways down the road but I want to pick the right platform that will scale to my needs and handle traffic loads well. Thanks!
For a feel of what I’m kind of going for see http://www.destructoid.com/ except they don’t have the forums integrated with the same login as the main site. They currently use Elephant which seems really buggy to me (and expensive). Is this the right software for me?
