Looking for generic searchable db/directory

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a fairly open ended plugin that lets me build a database, and then on the user facing site, search that and control how the various items are displayed.

I can find very specific ones for certain niches like recipe sites, real estate or staff directories for example; but nothing that appears truly open ended that could be used for multiple use cases.

I don’t mind paid plugins, indeed I’ve seen a few that look like they might fit the bill, but I can’t really tell.
