• Good afternoon

The company I work for has just took ownership of an existing WordPress-built site as part of an acquisition. We’ve asked a digital agency to rebrand the website as appropriate and they’ve requested FTP access.

I’m not a technical wizard when it comes to this side of digital, so I don’t really understand how to provide this. I’ve given them a username and password to the WordPress site, but they’ve replied to tell me these details are not working and suggested there may be a firewall restriction in place.

In short, how do I grant them FTP access/remove any firewall restrictions? Or, if this is not possible, how do I download a copy of all of the files and the website database? (so I can then send them a copy for testing their changes).

Thank you for any help, and please move this to the correct forum if I’ve put it in the wrong one. If it helps I can provide the URL of the site.

    Regards

    Sam

  • Ask your webhost on how to give FTP access and if they are firewalled. Giving them a complete copy of the site has its own issues and is not a good idea unless it’s a last resort.
