Adding authors to post thumbnails

As I am making a blog as a couple and there are times when I am posting and when my better half is posting.

I’m looking for a simple way to add “Post by” on thumbnails of our posts so we can differentiate our posts.

I was thinking either at the bottom where the date is or potentially when you hover over the image. The problem with both is it has to be done for every post because the sequencing of our posting is not consistent.

I’m not much of a PHP coder so I’m looking for a simple solution but from what I can tell it does not have one.
