• Hey, I am idiot, and I didnt make a childtheme. Im in deep [doo-doo] now, cos I need to udpate WP, and the udpate ruins all my Theme changes. Is there some easy way, how to make childtheme now, and keep all changes I did in the Theme? I have also problem with moving WP from hosting on localhost, for testing…if you have some easy tutorial how to move WP from hosting on localhost, it would be also awesome.

    Hi there!

If you have heavily modified the theme, why not just rename it or give the theme a super high version number so it won’t display an update.

Are you able to elaborate a little more on what you mean when you say “move from WP from hosting on localhost”? Do you mean duplicating a live site to a local development environment? Or the other way around?

So the theme udpates are useless? I dont know…I did udpate CSS and stuff like that, I didnt do much about safety etc.

And yeah, duplicating the live site to a local develpopment environment. I am using XAMPP, and I am stuck. I used some tutorials, but it is everything -How to move your website from XAMPP on hosting- …I need the other way 🙁

You may want to take a look at what was updated if the theme provides a changelog just in case.

As for migrating, you can try:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

It does a fairly good job from what I’ve seen and read – haven’t personally used it. That is one way of doing it. You can also export your site by going to Tools > Export from your Dashboard.
