I have contacted hostgator twice over last 2 days, I was advised they were good to deal with, Should I have heard back or what is usual response time?
I can access my Cpanel and ftp. Is there away to check if its definitely a host issue?

no worries, if you cannot access your cpanel or ftp then there is something wrong 99% with your hosting or server.
Managed to contact hostgator via live chat, very helpfull. Turns out a verification email went to spam and my domain was suspended as a result. Might help another new site. Thanks again
