Caption overlay doesn't link

Ok, so using metaslider, i have a slider, with a caption placed in the centre of each slide, and each slide also has a link allocated to it. However when the user hovers over the caption, there is no link… Obviously i can’t z-index the caption behind the image/link as it wouldn;t be seen…

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
