I noticed a mention of an API amd your dedicated servers,, So I have a question or 2.
Does this plugin use off-site/off-domain linking and/or calls?

If so, can it be brought in to the site (i.e. in house, my backend..)?

If not, then this sounds like a pretty good plugin solution and barring any issues from NexGenGallery we’ll be giving it a go..

    Thanks in advance

  • Hey PPNSteve,

    Hope you’re well today 🙂

All smushing is done by our server, currently, it can’t be brought into your server to process.

We’ve fixed the issues related to NexGen Gallery so plugins should work along side each other without any problems. With that being said NextGen Gallery support is added only in premium version meaning smushing those images is only available in the premium version.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Hi,

I am well, thanks! I hope you are as well.

Ok i guess there isn’t any way around 3rd party links/calls at this time..

I smushed most of my images without issue but that 1MB limit is a bit low IMO (especially with modern .png’s) but meh, we can live with it for now..

I do have a question: If I enable pro and after a bit cancel or stop the subscription, do the pro features keep working?

I had a premium membership for a while back in 2011 or so when we got Membership 2 Pro IIRC.

Thanks for the reply and awesome products (and newsletter :p) It does indeed help.

    Hey again Steve,

I smushed most of my images without issue but that 1MB limit is a bit low IMO (especially with modern .png’s) but meh, we can live with it for now..

Let me try to explain, WP Smush is smushing only image thumbnails (in premium version you can smush original image too) which are in most cases images that are being used on your website, rarely you can see full size image being used on a site as it is affecting your load time.

With that being said those thumbnails are usually smaller then 1mb in which case they will be smushed by our plugin regardless of original image being larger then 1mb.

I do have a question: If I enable pro and after a bit cancel or stop the subscription, do the pro features keep working?

Yes pro features stop working once your subscriptions expires. WP Smush PRO requires active subscription in order to use premium API if that makes sense.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂

I do know it does the WP gen’d images which is perfectly fine and is working as expected.

    Great!

As for pro, it is as I expected.. though that’s ok too. Thanks for clarifying that.

    It does indeed help.

You have a wonderful day and weekend.

    Steve

    Hey Steve,

    Glad I could help 🙂
