You don’t have an XML file.
Use this address instead: http://incubatechicago.wordpress.com/feed/
And wordpress.com questions should go here:
http://forums.wordpress.com/
incubate: No. There is no XML file. WordPress does not create an XML file for a feed. It generates it on the fly.
I gave you the correct answer. If you need a URL to generate a feed (even if the thing says “XML file”), use this:
http://incubatechicago.wordpress.com/feed/
Hi Otto, thanks for the info. I can see why someone may need an xml file. For example when submitting to Google sitemaps they require an xml feed.
Example: http://www.hd-report.com/sitemap.xml (this is what Google asks for)
I tried using the /feed address but it doesn’t work. Any thoughts on plug-ins or work arounds to submit an xml feed to Google?
an xml file can take many shapes. xml is a standard, not a catch all — so what google wants and what another site wants for syndication are not going to be the same thing.
there are at least 2 google sitemap plugins — you can google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=google+sitemap+plugin+wordpress&btnG=Google+Search
and you can review more plugins here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
that’s a great ref. thanks!
