So I am new to WordPress and stuck on something that I figure should be simple, I just can’t figure it out. I am running WordPress 4.3.1 and all my plugins are up to date (NextGen 2.1.15).

I created a new gallery and uploaded 2 images. It said they were uploaded successfully but when managing the gallery the images do not show. The little blue square with a question mark shows up. If I click on those the screen goes black with a red ‘loading’ and just locks.

As a test I have uploaded these same images to existing galleries with no problems, and tried uploaded existing images from other galleries to this new gallery without success, so it seems the issue is the gallery and not the images? I have tried deleting both the images and the gallery and trying again with no success.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks

Just wanted to post that I have resolved the problem. Turns out the problem was using capital letters in the file name. Didn’t know that was a thing, but changing to all lower case has done the trick!

@landf – Thanks for the update although we do not have any other reports of capitalization being an issue except for very rare cases of the file extension being capitalized which we are not able to recreate in our testing.

I have just experienced the same problem, found out that the filename extension must be in lower case: .jpg
