• Hi, we used to have the top toolbar appear not just in the backend dashboard view, but also when logged in as a user and viewing posts in the front end (single post view), so one could just click “edit” and go to editing mode without having to go back to the posts screen in dashboard and search for the particular post by name. Now its gone, how do I bring it back? it happens on several computers and browsers and I tried clearing the browser cache. We don’t have any WordPress cache running. Curiously enough, in the front end view of the front page the toolbar shows, just not when clicking through to see a single post (that’s when we need it). We haven’t done any theme changes for months.

    Thanks

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
