Need a plugin recommendation, please

Hi all, need a recommendation for a plug-in … we’re looking for a visually interesting way to list a group of individuals, in a “hall of fame” type listing. For each person, there will be a photo, a name, and a brief description. We want something more interesting than just a list.

I’ve looked at a lot of “CoverFlow” type apps, but Flash is not our strong point (and we don’t own a copy, so we’d be looking at buying Flash just to make minor modifications). I’m thinking there must be some sort of pre-existing plugin that makes for fun browsing of items within a WP page … for instance, something like Amazon’s “Today’s recommendations for you,” which has clickable arrows on the left and right side that scroll through the list of choices.

Any inspirations? Looking forward to not re-inventing the wheel. Thanks in advance.
