When I attempt to upload a picture from a file on desktop to the Upload Area of the WRITE Screen I get the following error message
“Unable to create directory /usr/www/virtual/mhacorpd/www.domain.com/SubDomain/wp-content/uploads/2007/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
    Back to Image Uploading”

When I attempt to upload a picture from a subfolder within a different site, I simply get the message “No file was uploaded.”

So, on the basis that I am not able to upload through the system, to what image folder would I ftp transfer in order to make the images available in posts?

  • Afraid you can’t as if you upload an image via ftp, wordpress wouldn’t be able to see it as it didn’t go through the software.

The first error is telling you what is wrong. Have you checked to see if the parent directory (in this case uploads or wp-content if uploads hasn’t been created yet) writable by the web server?
