    Hi,

I am using the plugin WP to Twitter to auto post to Twitter. Tweets are grabbing an image from the content of my custom posts for events. They should be grabbing the post’s featured image.

The author of the plugin says

“The images you’re seeing in your Tweets are coming from Twitter cards, which are coming from the Yoast SEO plug-in; you’ll need to ask for support for the Yoast SEO plug-in on this issue!”

How can I fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Just for clarity; this isn’t a conflict with WP to Twitter in any way; these are completely unrelated behaviors. Twitter Cards are meta data that’s placed on your single post page, and Twitter picks that data up when a link to that page is posted.

The fact that WP to Twitter is creating the Tweet that includes the link to your page is circumstantial.

Sorry for the poor choice of words, Joe. Just trying to figure out if I have any control over which image is being grabbed. Right now it is an ad that I have placed in my content. Obviously it would be nice to use a more relevant image related to the post.

Due to the way Twitter defines Twitter Cards, if you have an image set for your Twitter card, that’s going to be what Twitter wants to pick up. You could set a different image for your Twitter card for the post/page and the other plugin should then pull it correctly instead of an ad image.
