Hi,
Thanks for your requests and for providing the rationale for each. I have been considering revisiting the use of WP Cron, for another reason anyway, so I will look into adding it for scheduling, as you’ve requested.
I also have received multiple requests for functionality to allow admins to preview notifications before they are sent. Is that what you’re asking for or are you talking about additional HTML support in the formatting of the notification email body? (Or neither?! 🙂 ). Please do let me know.
Thanks,
Devon
Devon,
Thank you for a quick response. I’m glad to hear about some of those possible updates!
Regarding formatting, all I really want to do is show a preview of the post rather than just a URL. Maybe feature image plus excerpt?
Thanks,
Heidi
Hi Heidi,
OK, I believe I get what you’re after with respect to the post preview; I appreciate the clarification.
Thanks,
Devon
No problem! Thanks for considering.
Hi Heidi,
I am marking this thread as resolved since your requests have been added to my queue of potential future features. I just released Post Notif v1.0.5 last night, to address some much-needed functionality gaps, but revisiting post notification preview and scheduling of posts are two things I’ll be seriously considering for the next release.
Thanks,
Devon
Hi Heidi,
OK, it only took 9+ months since you asked about these features :), but Post Notif (as of v1.1.0) now contains:
- The ability to schedule posts
- The ability to test send posts
- A variety of post excerpt-related email template variables:
- @@postexcerptauto
- @@postexcerptmanual
- @@postteaser
- A @@featuredimage email template variable
If you’ve stuck with Post Notif all this time, thank you, and I hope these new features turn out to have been worth the wait!
Thanks,
Devon
