Code disappearing

    I couldn’t find an answer to this question in the forum or online….and I feel like it’s such a simple problem…so I hope i’m not just crazy here.

    When I go into the “code” tab and add <p> tags to tighten up my layout and save it…then toggle over to “visual” and back to “code” again…all the code i just typed disappears!!! So in general whenever I toggle between the two tags to make sure everything is looking good all code that I type disappears…and i’m going crazy! I talked to my friend who also uses WP and he said this is normal?? Isn’t this a huge bug?? The “visual” tab doesn’t reflect any tags that I enter into the “code” tab. So would this mean I have to edit my site live every time?

    I appreciate any help, and thank you in advance.

    People have been annoyed with the visual editor for a long time. Try searching the forum for “tinymce” and you’ll find all the posts complaining about the visual (tinymce) editor.

    Yes, that is normal WP behavior. It strips out the <p> tags from the editor, then re-inserts them before displaying on the front-end.

    Lots of folks who know html prefer to disable the visual editor entirely (via your profile).
