I am writing on behalf of my client whose site I built and updated recently. Since then any attempt to create a new gallery and add images produces an error message “Invalid image file. Acceptable formats: JPG, GIF, and PNG.” I have tried the following with no success, but a workaround works as I will report:

    1. Checked the folder permissions, they are fine
    2. Disabled NGG, deleted the folder via FTP, uploaded the plugin files again, no fix
    3. Reset options did not fix anything either
    4. I can create a folder under gallery and add images to it, then I can import that folder to NGG
    5. However, I still cannot add any images to that folder from NGG interface

I have run out of ideas and I am seeking advice from you. The site is striveri.com. If you wish, I can provide admin level login to the site via private channel you will indicate.

The version of NGG was 2.1.15 and I replace them once more. The plugins list has not changed for several years, nothing new other than updating WordPress to the latest version and updating NGG from 1.9.17 to the latest version.

    Thanks,

    Cemal

@acekin – I would recommend troubleshooting the current active plugins for conflicts as well as the current theme … updating from very old NextGEN Legacy versions to current NextGEN Gallery can sometimes open up a conflict that was not there before with another plugin or theme.

Just to complete the circle, I contacted my ISP and they determined the problem. It was a setting openbasedir needed change. As they changed that setting everything started working. In case others run into a similar problem. This site runs on a Windows server.

@acekin – Thanks for the follow-up … that server setting can definitely cause problems and not just for NextGEN Gallery.
