    WordPress version: 4.3.1
    WordPress SEO version: 2.3.5

    I did this: After installing and activating the plugin I went to SEO (menu) -> Social -> Facebook (tab):
    -> Checked “Add Open Graph metadata”
    -> Uploaded an image in the image URL field.
    -> Saved

    I expected the plugin to do this: to output an “og:image” meta property to the page.

    Instead it did this: it outputs several “og:image” meta properties with other images from the frontpage.

    Tried changing the image in the url field to see if it was a problem with a concrete image, but same result.

    Any ideas why this may be happening?

    Thanks!

  • Hi alvaroj89,

    The image you are setting is the default image that is ONLY used by Facebook if there is no other suitable image found in the post according to Facebook’s standards.

    However, there obviously are other images, so Facebook is offering them, and ignoring the default.

    You need to go into the PAGE that controls the home page layout, and into the page editor, and then down to the Yoast SEO box, into the social tab, and specify a Facebook image there.

    That will assign an image to that particular page.

    Then you need to go to Facebook’s debugging tool in order to clear the cache of the current images and get Facebook to pick up the newly manually-assigned image: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

    That was a great explanation of all the steps (would have never thought of clearing Facebook’s cache!).

    Thanks a lot AskKim. Everything works great now.

    Cheers!
