I have just tested it myself, and it seems to sort by the slug as expected.
If you can also post the shortcode that you are using (to show the parameters), that would be a great help in sorting out your problem.

Hi, i tried both
First [child_pages cols=”3″ skin=”simple” list=”true” order=”title”]
Result: http://bild-speichern.de/Ql.jpg
Second
[child_pages cols=”3″ skin=”simple” list=”true” order=”slug”]
Result exact the same as the image before.
You need to use the orderby parameter to specify what to sort by … the order parameter can be set to "ASC" or "DESC", depending if you want to sort ascending or descending. (See detailed instructions at https://wordpress.org/plugins/cc-child-pages/).
