First, please understand that I don’t know all that much about the technical aspects of having a WP site up..I have had one for a while, I add plugins, etc..using it as I believe the founders intended.

Yesterday, my site was shut down by the host, due to it “crashing the server”..I was told there was something in the index that was doing this, and it was taking too much bandwith..it also took out my email.

I have no idea what happened here..I faithfully upgrade to the latest version of WP, and have never had any sort of trouble at all (one of the reasons I like WP a LOT)The host has my site down now, but put the email back up so I can at least do that. I was told that “hardly anyone here uses WP so we can’t tell you what is wrong”..I was also told that the alternative I have is to either “fix it” (which is why I am posting..how do I do this..actually how do i even identify the problem that caused it to take up “all the resources” at the host?)or to shut it down, get rid of the index, which would probably wipe out my site and i would have to rebuild from scratch.

Can anyone here help me with this? I realize I am not stating all the pertinent facts, but I am determined to get my site fixed and to continue using WP.

    thanks,
    John

  • If you have access to server logs, that would help. You might can ask your host to provide you with some of the logs at the time of the crash.
