you should look at your error.log (on your host) to see if anything else is showing up. You may have to contact your host to locate hwere the error.og is stored.
I just checked the error log and it just has a whole list of this error,
Sun Oct 04 06:13:36 2015] [crit] [client 180.76.15.16] (13)Permission denied: /home/poppetfa/public_html/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable
try to place this line at the begining of your .htaccess file:
Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
or you can use linux (if your server use linux) comand
Chmod 777 <wordpress directory>
what are the permissions on the .htaccess file
Hi,
I am not sure what you mean by permissions as I’m a complete novice. I have noticed that my WordPress folders seem to be loaded on my cpanel about 3 times is this normal as I only loaded it up once. The other thing is the host I’m using is from a repointed domain from years ago and I can’t seem to contact them neither, so I was going to try and backup everything I have done and then sign up with new hosts.
If anyone can recommend a good hosting account that would be good.
If you are just starting to build a WP site – why bother to back up what you have done? just go to a new host and start again.
everyone has an opinion on what is the best host – I would say there are some to avoid and that you get what you pay for. If you pay $.99 a year for unlimited hosting you are not going to be happy with the speed, support etc that you will get.
if you are a complete new why not set up an account with wordpress.com to begin with.
