• I have never used wordpress before today. I am looking for existing software where users can 1) create an account on my website 2) can create their own pages on my website and modify them as they wish.

    Someone suggested wordpress. And after reading the docs it looks as if wordpress multisite is more what i am looking for.

    I have installed wordpress in a subdirectory of my website

    using this tutorial
    which then led me to the multisite modification tutorial

    So i think i have it installed and setup correctly. I didnt run into any problems that i am aware of. However being new to wordpress and never blogging before, i dont even know how to know if my site is working.

    How can i know for sure if users can sign in and create their own blog from mine? How do users log in at all?

    I attempted to go to a different browser and to my site to try to “pretend” to be a user and log in. However, if you try to leave a reply or do anything, you get a login prompt…there is no registration for new users. What are new users suppose to do? Is my site setup correctly to do what i am looking for?

  • Go to http://yourdomain.ext/wp-admin/network/settings.php and, under the section “Registration Settings > Allow new registrations” choose the option “User accounts may be registered.”

    Then, users will be able to register in your site.

    If you want your users to be able also to create new sites in your network, choose the option ” Both sites and user accounts can be registered.”
