Where are your WordPress files? Specifically, in what folder does the wp-content, wp-admin, and wp-include folders reside?

I’m still stuck with this problem…

Okay, I think I figured out the problem.
I have just one last question, If all my files are there, all the comments themes, databases, posts, category, so on and so forth, if I do the installation (as in go to wp-admin/install.php), will all my data be lost?
Yes. I mean yes, if your wp-config file is pointing to the existing database… running the install on it would wipe out everything and give you a blank, empty new blog.
I still don’t get it what are your trying to do.

okay, then i guess what i thought cannot be done.
you see, i have this blog quite well developed with many posts, categories and stuff like this and my host went for a network transfer and when I came back, everything was alright (as in the database, files and stuff) just that I can’t seem to load the site anymore. What came out was 404 error.
the things are there, but yet 404 error. I don’t get it.
Oh yea, and the admin told me that it could be because of the sub-domain change that caused this problem.
Now I am desperately looking for a way to solve this problem.
Thanks.
All that stuff about your host I could read in your initial post already. Do not repeat yourself.
Give details, man!
What was the setup before? Was you blog in a subdomain? A real one or a fake one? (fake=redirected to a subfolder)
Were the files moved because of whatever the host did?
If you looked into the DB – what are the values for “home” and site_url” in the wp_options table?

Sorry.
As I said the directory is home/public_html/www/blog/
therefore, the domain was http://thetales.vlexo.net/blog/
It’s not a subdomain, it’s a sub-folder. The host changed it’s subdomain from .com to .net. That’s was what i was trying to tell you about the sub domain.
Carrying on, the files weren’t moved at all, still same as before.
Well, I went into the DB, I changed the values in site url and the problem’s still there. By the way, I can’t find ‘home’, where is it in specific?
Thannks.
As you found “site_url” – try to find “home”, too!
Be aware that the table has ,amy rows, so it is paged… Click on those right arrows >
Don’t mention again subdomain because I’ll throw out my computer. NEVER use words that you don’t know their meaning: .com and .net are NOT subdomains!

I do know the meaning of sub domain, i meant thetales.vlexo.com. okay okay, sorry to get you so fired up. really sorry..
Anyways, thanks very much as the database changes really soved my problems.
Thanks very much.
Glad it worked.
And for future reference: .com and .net are domain extensions.
